Commander Antico was born in Pittsburgh, PA and grew up in the Greater Pittsburgh Area. He graduated from Duquesne University with a Bachelor or Science Degree in Nursing and was commissioned through the Carnegie Mellon University Navy Reserve Officer’s Training Corps (NROTC) program in May 2007.
In June 2007, he reported to National Naval Medical Center, Bethesda, MD. He held position as Staff Nurse, Telemetry Step-Down Unit, Intensive Care Unit, and Emergency Department. During his tour, he was deployed as a critical care nurse to Expeditionary Medical Facility- Kuwait and the Multi-National Medical Unit Kandahar, Afghanistan.
In 2011, he reported to Naval Hospital Camp Lejeune, NC. Held position as Staff Nurse, Emergency Department and Division Officer, Intensive Care Unit. While at Camp Lejeune, he was deployed with Bravo Surgical Company, 1st Medical Battalion, to Afghanistan as an Enroute Care Nurse and later took on the Company Executive Officer role while earning his Fleet Marine Force qualification.
In 2014, he reported to Field Medical Training Battalion- East to assume the duties as the Training Company Commander, Operations/Plans Officer, Academics Officer, and Formal School Manager, overseeing the training and education of the 8408 and 2401 NEC ‘C’ school. During this time, he earned his Master Training Specialist
Certificate.
In July 2017, he reported to the Naval War College, Newport, RI for Duty Under Instruction at the University of Rhode Island earning a Masters in Adult Education in 2019. While attached to the War College, LCDR Antico worked at Naval Health Clinic New England where he provided patient care at King Hall and instructed resuscitative medical courses, as well as instructed at Officer Development School (ODS) at Officer Training Command, Newport, RI.
In 2019, he reported to Naval Medical Center San Diego as the Assistant Department Head, Staff Education and Training. As Specialty Leader for Navy Nurse Corps Education and Training, he guided training and readiness requirements and standards across Navy Medicine. During this time, he deployed in support of DSCA COVID-19 action on both the USNS MERCY and USNS COMFORT; Pacific Partnership 2020; and USS COMSTOCK in support of CFT 73.20.
In 2022, CDR Antico reported to Naval Forces Pacific as Director, N7; Defense Health Agency, San Diego Market, Director, Education and Training overseeing Readiness Training and MTF training for 10 Medical Training Facilities, 10 NMRTC’s, two Dental Treatment Facilities, and eight research commands.
In 2024, CDR Antico assumed the position as Executive Officer, Field Medical Training Battalion-West, Camp Pendleton, CA.
CDR Antico’s Military awards include: Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (3 awards), Navy Achievement Medal (6 awards), Afghanistan Campaign Medal with EGA and Campaign star, Global War of Terrorism Expeditionary Medal (2 awards), Global War or Terrorism Medal, Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, Sea Service Ribbon (2 awards), ISAF NATO Medal, Rifle Expert Marksman, and Pistol Sharpshooter Medal.
