CAPT Skorey was born in Chicago, Illinois and grew up in San Jose, California. Initially, she entered the Navy through Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Illinois in 1994. She attained the rank of Petty Officer Second Class before she left the Navy at the end of her enlistment in 1999 to pursue a career in the civilian sector.
In 2003, CAPT Skorey was commissioned in the Medical Service Corps through direct accession and attended Officer Indoctrination School in Newport, Rhode Island. In her first tour as an officer, she was assigned as the Department Head, Managed Care at Naval Hospital Cherry Point, North Carolina, where she was responsible for the transition to the next generation of Tricare contracts. In 2006, CAPT Skorey reported to 1st Medical Battalion, 1st Force Service Support Group and served as Bravo Surgical Company Commander and S-4, Logistics Officer. While stationed with 1st Medical Battalion, CAPT Skorey deployed with the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit as the Health Services Detachment Office-in-Charge. In 2009, CAPT Skorey was selected as the Joint Staff, J-4 Fellow. Upon completion of the fellowship, CAPT Skorey reported to the Marine Air Ground Task Force Staff Training Program (MSTP), as a medical planner and operational planning instructor, where she was responsible for training General Officer level staffs in preparation for deployment in support of OPERATION ENDURING FREEDOM. Following her tour with MSTP, CAPT Skorey was selected to attend Marine Corps University, Command and Staff College. Upon graduation from Command and Staff College, CAPT Skorey served as a Plans, Operations, Medical Intelligence officer in the Pentagon in the Office of the Chief of Naval Operations, OPNAV N0931, Medical Resources, Plans and Policy. Following her tour on the OPNAV staff, CAPT Skorey was command-screened and slated as the Executive Officer, 2d Medical Battalion, 2d Marine Logistics Group, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. After completing a successful Executive Officer tour, CAPT Skorey was competitively selected to serve as the Executive Assistant to the Deputy Director, Defense Health Agency. CAPT Skorey completed her senior Fleet staff tour as the Deputy Surgeon, Naval Forces Europe/Africa/6th Fleet in Naples, Italy. Following her senior Fleet staff tour, CAPT Skorey served as the Director, Requirements and Capabilities (N9) at the Bureau of Medicine and Surgery in Falls Church, Virginia.
Currently, CAPT Skorey is the Commanding Officer of Field Medical Training Battalion-West, Camp Pendleton, CA
CAPT Skorey holds a bachelor’s degree in Physiology from the University of California, Davis, a Master of Business Administration from Shorter College, Rome, Georgia, a Master of Health Law from Nova Southeastern University, Shepard Broad Law Center, Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, and a Master of Military Studies from Marine Corps University, Quantico, Virginia.
Her awards include the Legion of Merit, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (two gold stars), Joint Service Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (one gold star), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (one gold star). Additionally, CAPT Skorey is a Fleet Marine Force Warfare Qualified Officer.
